Chapter One :Chapter 1

"Kaelynn, I'm telling you, you are getting married today, whether you like it or not!"

The moment Kaelynn regained consciousness, she heard these familiar words.

She pinched herself, it hurt.

Unbelievable joy surged in her heart. She rushed to the bathroom and stared at the rebellious, collagen-filled face of the young girl in the mirror, holding back her tears.

It was her at age twenty! Had she reincarnated?!

"Kaelynn! Did you even hear what I said?!" The man's annoyance increased as he stormed in and harshly pulled her from the restroom, cursing disdainfully, "Raised in the slums, you have absolutely no manners!"

"Dad, don't be angry." A delicate and weak girl pacified the man in a gentle tone, "Sis just woke up. She might be resentful. Don't be angry, explain calmly..."

That familiar and b*tchy tone...

Kaelynn lowered her eyes, and sarcastically retorted, "How could I possibly have manners? Everyone knows that I, Kaelynn, am a child born without a father's care. The fact that I'm still alive is already divine intervention, where would I get manners?"

"Am I right, my dear father?"

Indeed, the middle-aged man in front of her was her biological father, Justus, and the girl was Katie, her half-sister who was only three months younger than her.

Justus had an affair during the pregnancy of Kaelynn's mother, Angeline. His mistress, Sienna, appeared shortly before Angeline gave birth, provoking Angeline into a difficult labor during which she hemorrhaged and died.

His wife, who started from scratch and struggled alongside him, was enraged to death. Justus married his mistress and abandoned Kaelynn to his mother-in-law, completely cutting her out of his life.

Kaelynn grew up with her grandmother, living in the slums by scavenging, until she turned twenty when this so-called father finally sought her out.

Ironically, the only reason he remembered this daughter of his was because six months ago, the fiance of his daughter had been in a car accident. He was now disabled in both legs and his company had been taken over by others, leaving him with absolutely nothing.

How could Justus and Sienna bear to see their darling daughter suffer like this? But they did not dare to offend the Lowery family, so they could only shift their focus onto Kaelynn.

"B*tch!" Justus raised his hand in fury without thinking, "How dare you speak to your father like that?!"

But his hand could not land halfway.

Effortlessly grasping his hand in mid-air, Kaelynn taunted him, her strength not reducing in the least, "Didn't you check before you came to find me? I've had numerous fights growing up in the slums, more times than Katie has called you dad. You, a man in his middle-ages, have weakened yourself with wine and women. Best not to mess with me."

"Kaelynn, stop it, he's your father!" urged Sienna pretentiously as she watched the situation unfold, "You haven't seen each other for so many years, your father misses you. Don't listen to your grandmother's instigation. Don't misunderstand us..."

Whack!

Before she could finish her sentence, Kaelynn had raised her hand and slapped her.

"Aah!"

"Kaelynn!"

Accompanied by Katie's scream and Justus's roar, the smirk on Kaelynn's face grew even more intense, "Sienna, who gave you the confidence to act as my elder in front of me?"

"I suggest you best stay out of my sight. After all, I lack manners and tend to resort to violence when angry. If you get slapped and your face swells, I won't be the one losing face."

"Sis, how could you do this?" Katie incredulously widened her eyes, "Parents are our elders. I know you might have a grudge, but that doesn't excuse violence..."

"Who do you think you are, educating me? A child of a mistress?" Kaelynn sneered, "Katie, you'd better shut up too. You and your mother are the same, and I'm sick of the sight of you two. If I get annoyed, I tend to get violent. You can test me if you don't believe."

Katie's fists clenched tightly, her fingernails digging into her palms.

Even though Sienna had already successfully risen to power, the fact that her mother was a mistress has always been a stain on her life. Those in the know look down on her and her mother.

However, Kaelynn just had to step on her sore spots.

Sienna was also seething with anger. She gave Katie a glance, signaling her.

They still needed Kaelynn for their plans. There was no need to make a fuss with her over some petty quarrels.

Seeing his wife and daughter with tears in their eyes, full of trust and reliance on him, Justus's male chauvinism was satisfied. He rebuked loudly, "Kaelynn, I think you don't know what you're talking about. Look at your vulgar appearance, not one bit like my daughter!"

"What kind of people would ever take a liking to you?" He glared at her: "I am still your father, after all, I have to worry about your lifelong affair. Since you're not going to school anymore, pack up your things, and get married these two days, understood?"

Kaelynn lowered her eyes, pulling at the corner of her mouth, "I can get married."

"Don't be ungrateful! You can never climb up to Lowery family's...," the incessantly talking Justus suddenly opened his eyes wide, "What did you say?"

"If the Lowery family is really that great, why don't you let Katie marry into it?" Kaelynn sneered, "Let's cut the bull. Sure, I can marry, but I want a set of residential properties on W Street, and also one million dollars. If a single one of these isn't met, forget about it!"

"Unfilial child! How dare you bargain with me?!"

Justus wanted to curse again, but was held back by Sienna.

"After all, Kaelynn didn't grow up here. It's only right for her to want some things to rely on." Sienna suppressed her heartache and forced a smile full of understanding and tolerance, "Who wouldn't give their daughter a dowry when she gets married? Justus, I know you care about Kaelynn, so don't be so stubborn. If Kaelynn wants it, let's give it to her."

In her heart, she was planning.

The shantytown on W Street was at the back alley, a set of housing there didn't cost much, and a million was no more than two packages of money.

With this little money to rid of Katie, and also maintain their reputation, it couldn't get any better.

"This sinner." Justus figured it out as well, his face stern, "As your father, could I possibly mistreat you?"

"Whether I'm mistreated or not, this is the first time I've met my biological father in twenty years. Asking him for something shouldn't be a difficult matter, right?" Kaelynn only felt it was amusing, "Whenever you deliver what I need, that's when I will marry. It's getting late now, you and your family should leave as soon as possible. My grandmother will be back soon, and seeing such a disreputable scene might ruin her appetite."

Justus wanted to scold her after being sarcastically referred to as a disreputable person, but Sienna didn't want to waste any more time.

Now that her objective was achieved, she didn't want to stay in this shabby room any longer and persuaded Justus to leave with Katie.

Just as Kaelynn was about to close the door, a figure suddenly rushed over and held her tightly, "Kaelynn!"
